Social inclusion

People with disabilities have the same social needs, interests and rights as anyone else. However, largely due to stigma and discrimination, people with disabilities are often denied opportunities for social or community participation, for example to cultural or leisure activities or information and support about relationships, sexuality, and marriage. Existing social and community services can be adapted to accommodate people with disabilities. Increasing awareness and resourcefulness of communities and social service providers and involving people with disabilities in this process can bring about social change.
