ICT and health

ICT has the potential to impact upon many aspects of the health sector. The ability of communities to access health services is influenced by wider information and communication processes, mediated by ICT.

Study outputs

A number of outputs have been produced as part of the infoDev study.


 

  • Online disussion summary (PDF, 110 KB) The discussion, held in September 2005, had over 150 contributors including practitioners, policy makers, NGOs and consultants. Four key issues were explored: the Millennium Development Goals and ICT, the best points of entry for using ICT in the health sector, evidence that ICT works, and barriers to using ICT.
  • Checklist (PDF, 105 KB) for the introduction of effective ICT programmes in the health sector
  • Key lessons (PDF, 106 KB) These lessons are drawn from the framework paper that emerged from the research project on the type of ICT interventions used in the health sector.
